How flirting and the 24-hour timer work

This is the part that makes Flirty different from every other app on your phone, so it’s worth understanding properly.

Sending a flirt

When you find someone in Discover you’d like to talk to, send them a flirt. It arrives as a request. They see your profile and decide whether to accept.

You can’t message someone before they’ve accepted. That’s deliberate. It means nobody’s inbox fills with messages from strangers, and it means an accepted flirt actually signals interest rather than an accidental swipe.

Accepting or declining

When someone flirts with you, it appears in your Flirts tab. You can:

• Accept: you match, and the countdown starts.
• Decline: it disappears. They aren’t told you declined, and you won’t see them again.

There’s no pressure to decide immediately. A flirt sits there until you deal with it.

The 24-hour timer

Here’s the bit people ask about most.

The moment a flirt is accepted, a 24-hour countdown starts. That’s your window to actually talk to each other. It’s visible to both of you, ticking, from the first second.

The point isn’t to stress you out. It’s that on every other app, a match sits untouched for three weeks and then quietly dies. A clock forces the thing that was going to happen anyway (a conversation) to happen now, while you both still remember who the other person is.

If the timer runs out without a conversation getting going, the match ends. The chat and any media in it are removed.

Extending or resetting the timer

If a conversation is going well but life got in the way, you have options:

• Extending buys you more time on an active timer.
• Force reset puts the clock back to a full 24 hours. This is a premium feature with a monthly allowance depending on your plan.

Super Flirts

A Super Flirt skips the queue. It lands at the top of their Flirts tab and is clearly marked, so they know you meant it. Free accounts don’t get these; every paid tier includes a monthly allowance.

Rewinds

Passed on someone by accident? A rewind brings them back. It’s a premium feature with a monthly allowance.
